A Day at Del Mar Dog Beach

On both Saturday and Sunday Oliver and I headed out to the dog beach in Del Mar which is only 13 miles from Carlsbad. On one portion of the beach, dogs are allowed off leash. The other two miles or so, dogs are allowed but they must be leashed (these rules apply from Labor Day until June). Oliver has become quite the ocean dog!

The First "Lasts"

The count down on the bottom of our blog says 28 days until we move! Actually, four weeks from today we will be leaving for Italy! I can't believe it! We have been planning this for so long that it is hard to believe the time is almost here. The next nine days are my last days living in Charlottesville. This is the last week of work for Reed at Blue Light and for me at U.Va. After that, we have a few days of much needed relaxing. This week will also be Ollie and my last morning walks to the Lawn (it was very foggy and humid so the pictures are not as clear as I would like). The Lawn is especially pretty in the morning when there are few people around.........

Tonight I am going to go to Blue Light and have my last Spicy Tuna Roll! Check out the picture below of Reed's masterpiece! We actually met because of the tuna roll. I took a cooking class that Reed was teaching because I wanted to learn how to make the tuna roll-I never have gotten around to trying to make it myself! Maybe one day!

Il Mercato

One of the things that we are both looking forward to about moving to Italy is the food! Italy has so much great, fresh food that it will be nice to go to il mercato instead of Harris Teeter to buy our groceries (not to mention cheaper as well!).

Siena's weekly market day is Wednesday. In anticipation, Reed purchased a special backpack for Oliver for his birthday so that he can go with us, and more importantly help carry all the food!

Look how handsome he is!

Coincidentally, the backpack is the perfect size to carry wine bottles...........

Of course, for all his hard work, Oliver will be eating very well too! He looks forward to enjoying the variety of cheeses (his favorite food after Salmon) available in Italy!

Oliver loves wearing the backpack! We think that he thinks he is very important when he wears it!
